Formspree is the best-known form backend, and it’s a good one. People look elsewhere for three reasons: the free plan has 50 submissions a month, webhooks and integrations start at $30 a month, and a busy month gets expensive.
Here are seven alternatives. We make one of them (Formkove), so we’ve stuck to facts from each provider’s pricing page and said who each one suits better. Prices were checked on November 6, 2026, except Web3Forms (October 2026), and are in US dollars.

Formkove
A form backend that reads each submission before it’s delivered. An AI spam filter runs on every plan, Free included, and holds spam back from your inbox. On Pro, each submission also gets a sentiment and your own tags (sales-lead, support, …), and routing rules send it to the right place: email, Slack, Discord, Google Sheets or a webhook.
- Free: 300 submissions a month, 10 forms, AI spam filter.
- Pro: $12/month for 12,000 submissions, tags and routing, integrations, a 3-person team.
- Agency: $29/month for 30,000 submissions and a separate workspace for each client.
- Missing: file uploads and autoresponders.
Suits: sites where spam is a real problem, teams that want leads and support requests to land in different places, and agencies managing many client sites. Formkove vs Formspree has the full comparison.
Web3Forms
A free-first backend: you get an access key and point your form at it. The free plan covers unlimited forms and 250 submissions a month, and keeps 30 days of history. Pro adds file uploads, autoresponders and integrations. When we checked in October 2026, Web3Forms showed prices in Canadian dollars, so the US price above is approximate.
Suits: many small sites that only need email forwarding, at no cost. Formkove vs Web3Forms.
Static Forms
Inexpensive, with a lot per plan. Starter is $6 a month for 3,000 submissions, with file uploads, autoresponders, webhooks, Slack, Discord and Telegram alerts, and Turnstile or hCaptcha. Pro is $9 a month for 25,000 submissions and adds Google Sheets, Notion and Airtable sync. Agency is $19 a month for 30,000 submissions with unlimited team members. Pro and Agency can opt in to overage at $1 per 1,000 extra submissions. The free plan is one form, 250 submissions every 30 days and reCAPTCHA v2 only.
Suits: high volume on a small budget, and forms that need file uploads or autoresponders.
Basin
A polished backend with file uploads on every plan and unlimited history from Growth up. Webhooks, Slack, Google Sheets and autoresponses start at Growth ($24.17 a month, billed yearly, 1,000 submissions). Basin delivers submissions over your cap and bills for them, from $5.25 per 1,000. Spam doesn’t count toward the limit. All plans have a 14-day trial.
Suits: businesses that want file uploads and autoresponses, and prefer paying overage to ever losing a submission.
Forminit (formerly Getform)
Getform became Forminit in January 2026. Pro is $16 a month ($190 a year) for 5,000 submissions and 10 forms, with webhooks, an autoresponder, Slack, Discord, Google Sheets, Zapier and a REST API. Its “AI Classify” workflow steps can label submissions and filter spam. Business is $50 a month for 50,000 submissions and unlimited collaborators. When a form reaches its monthly allowance, new submissions are rejected until it renews or you upgrade.
Suits: teams that want AI classification together with file uploads, or a large team on one plan.
Formcarry
File uploads on every plan, white-label, and native integrations including Google Sheets, Slack, Discord, Notion and Airtable. Starter is $6 a month ($5 billed yearly) for 500 submissions and 3 team members; Basic is $19 ($15 yearly) for 2,000; Premium is $99 ($80 yearly) for 30,000. Integration calls have a monthly cap per plan.
Suits: agencies that want white-label and file uploads.
Netlify Forms
If your site is hosted on Netlify, forms are built in: add an attribute to your form and Netlify detects it at deploy time. On Netlify’s credit-based plans (accounts from September 2025), form submissions are free and unlimited. Spam is filtered with Akismet, with an optional honeypot and reCAPTCHA. It only works for sites deployed on Netlify.
Suits: sites already on Netlify that don’t need AI sorting or a separate dashboard.
How to choose
- Only need email forwarding, for free: Web3Forms, or Formkove Free if spam is a problem.

- File uploads or autoresponders: Static Forms, Basin, Forminit or Formcarry. Formkove doesn’t do these yet.
- Leads and support requests going to different places automatically: Formkove Pro.
- Many client sites: Formkove Agency (a workspace per client) or Formcarry (white-label).
- Already on Netlify: Netlify Forms.
Switching from Formspree
Most backends, Formkove included, take the same HTML form. Change the action and keep your field names:
<!-- Before --><form action="https://formspree.io/f/YOUR_ID" method="POST">
<!-- After --><form action="https://app.formkove.com/api/forms/YOUR_FORM_ID/submissions" method="POST">If you redirect after submitting or post with fetch(), add your site under Allowed Origins in the form’s settings. The first-form guide covers the rest, and the free plan needs no card.
